notable games in 2023

general

since the year is ending.
what were your favorite games during this year? cool stuff you played? random obscure indie games worth checking out?
here's my recommends:
Rain World's DLC, Downpour, was pretty much the biggest highlight of the year, expanding upon a game i liked into quite literally the most remarkable game experience i've ever played. it's got quite the steep difficulty curve but it is totally worth it if you get into it
Pseudoregalia pretty much appeared out of nowhere, showing some incredible proficiency in designing satisfying platforming with lots of flexibility on how and when to tackle the many obstacles. it's a little barebones in terms of being anything other than a themed obstacle course, but what's there is really impressive. check it out if you like 3d platformers/metroidvanias with a strong focus on movement abilities

Paquerette Down the Bunburrows is a fantastic puzzle game, of the kind centered on absolutely maddening levels of unraveling mechanics that constantly re-contextualize the whole game. i wrote a review of it here https://steamcommunity.com/id/Uberzolik/recommended/1628610?snr=1_5_9__402

i'm probably forgetting more great games i enjoyed, i'll post them later if i think of them

i like disco elysium
Planning to play A Space For The Unbound i thinj its good emosional RPGame, my friends like it so I recommend it too
I recommend this little known game called tears of the kingdom
Just a remake and not a brand new game but We Love Katamari Reroll happened
+1 on pseudoregalia, was a really fun experience
void stranger is a pretty good game from this year if you are autistic enough to like it
Now that I've played it, I strongly recommend A Space for the Unbound for a meaningful sub-15 hour narrative-driven RPG experience. It's on sale at the moment too.
Pseudoregalia was really fun super awesome

Also thread title already out of date RIP

Barotrauma and Depp Rock Galactic if you are looking for something with friends
octopath traveler 2, improved upon everything the previous game did
