Personal Best Maps

Made by seros

an overview of my favourite maps ive ranked over the years with my personal thoughts

#1

EMA - Kaichuu Michishirube [-]
not my best but my personal favourite. i really couldve done more to the filler bits which covered like 70% of the song (kinda song debuff), but i dont think ill ever beat the rhythm, movement, and just the emotions emitted in the kiais anytime soon. the choruses are really what i consider as "max song representation" in all aspects. also big thanks to ttmnzk for spicing this up even further with self made keysounds.

RADWIMPS - Hyperventilation [What are you gonna do to my b**bs?]
my best map so far after starting to have the idea of integrating more movement into my patterns and rhythms. mapped mainly chaotically with a chaotic mindset to match the feeling of the song. this was also maybe my first map without any specific inspo whatsoever, being entirely intrusive object placements within the short 2-3 days i spent on this. this was also my first map that ive ranked with no regrets as in having anything id say "man i shouldve done that before i ranked it"

sekai - God-ish [?]
this map was actually mapped in 2021 and was my first pop off moment in mapping. contrary to my other maps in late 2021 like moonlight after midday and yappari ame, this was completely on another level. the first preview i sent in corsace was actually kinda joked about, but i remapped it all and it was as if a switch was flicked on inside my brain. i wasnt personally too happy with this being my "best" map since all i did was copy moph and petal maps, and petal gapped me in patterning by miles in his diff. ty to everyone who voted for this in mca2022, happy to have won 3rd place in the category.

Kuhaku Gokko - Lil'b [seros' Expert]
honestly dont know how i cooked this back in the day right after moonlight after midday. probably the first map i have with good patterning and an understanding of song representation with movement and rhythm.
#5

Sheena Ringo - Shuukyou [Chlorkalk]
my first ever experimental map which played a big role in my current growth. i learned a lot while making this, most importantly gaining the courage to map variable timing songs, which contributed to a lot of my later maps. another was my now main style (?) of progression mapping, mainly inspo from mnyui's aku no hana. big hit or miss map but im glad ive gained some audience with this.
#6

Leslie Cheung - The Wind Blows On [Once a Thief]
first ever leslie cheung song in ranked section after so many years of this game existing. this is an example of me mapping something close to my heart and my home. this was mapped purely with my own feelings connected to this song, and how i would envision this song to play in a rhythm game. a lot of people dont actually like the rhythm of this and i understand. i dont expect people to love this, but its a map now stapled in the ranked section expressing my own emotions and love for this song.
