from what i've seen i'm not head over heels for the patterning, dont get me wrong, but i can't possibly dislike this. it's such a once in a lifetime thing. who else is ever going to do this

To be clear mapping an entire violin concerto is no doubt a massive undertaking so I respect TKH for ranking something like this. Having said that Sibelius' Concerto is full of emotion and color whereas the patterning and rhythm of the map are overly simple to the extent that it feels like much of the essence of the song is being lost. This is most plainly seen through the SV changes which often feel random at best and it's what I would attribute most to the inexplicable lack of soul present in the map. While you could easily argue that the map doesn't have to or even shouldn't reflect the phrasing of the performance, it is regardless quite plain to see that it does not. I'm not melloe so I'm not gonna sit here and write a full critical analysis but simply put I think TKH bit off a little more than he could chew here.

i understand the fact that the amount of effort you put into something does not correlate into its quality but i still don't think this map fails at executing what it wants to execute

now if you think the intention here is inherently shit then that's fair but i just can't see how else you could go for such an idea

an interesting thing to mention is that people who make projects this big and ambitious don't sit on forums discussing other peoples maps

This is not true cuz I've ranked bigger project (change into plural form if replacing ranked with done) but still discuss other people's maps

while i can see how that perspective can apply to some slow sections of the map, i cannot agree that the hardest sections of the map (end of the first movement and basically the entire third movement) share these qualities. the last 13% or so in particular really sticks the landing for me and carries the map very far despite its other imperfections.
