bye bye OMDB!

wait, hang on! don't cry because it's over. smile because it happened!

so i will be shutting down OMDB after over 2 years of operation (est. december 2022). if you're looking for a "why":

• i've kinda been done with osu for many months now already (for personal reasons)
• i am not interested in maintaining the project at all (for personal reasons)

this has been something i've been considering on-and-off throughout 2024, and after talking to people i've realized that... i still really want to drop the project, so this isn't a sudden decision or anything like that despite what it may look like

but hey. enough about me, let's talk business.

here's what's up my little raters:

• OMDB will become inaccessible after March 1st 2025. you will no longer be able to access any of the pages.
• a database export will be provided. ratings, comments, mapsets, descriptors, etc. this is so that the data doesn't just fizzle out. if you don't want your data to be in the export, you will need to get in touch with me somehow -- just ask me to remove your data and i'll do it between now and shutdown time. this is worth considering, because...
• i basically encourage anyone interested who wants to carry on the torch of website that allows you to rate osu! maps to do so, and they are welcome to use the data within the export as a base. just pick a different name to OMDB bwahahaha

trust me, we're both better off this way.
