Perfect Harmony of Mappers and Players!

mapping

Hello guys i think a intressting thing to discuss about is:
Wich Maps are conciderd high quality for both Players and Mappers?
Players focus on diffrent elements in maps then Mappers wich most of the time creats Toxic/Conflicted discussions about mapping quality in osu!. So why not list some maps that both Players and Mappers can agree on? (If possible with reasoning). sry for bad england.
Dunno about specific maps but Skystar and Hollow Wings probably have most of em
thinking about Snow Note's high sr jump maps
zapy, broccoly
i feel like as the year goes back the % of maps that players and mappers agree on increases
imo it's something that's clean and not too complex in design to not deter a casual player yet also having some interesting quality that mappers could find

seeing that mapping concepts have evolved to be very complex as of late it makes sense why older maps are more widely appealing

^

tbf there's a lot of disconnect between mappers and players, because a lot of players really do like simple anime maps (remember the general osu! player watches a bunch of anime girl anime and binges Hololive),, oftentimes mappers want to map how they'd like,, which none are necessarily bad it's just simple maps are kind of forgotten? in the modern osu! meta..

probably why browiec is one of my heaviest inspos in mapping despite me NOT mapping simple at all; I really respect him for mapping how he likes, simply mapping for the sake of mapping something fun for players, which is something I want to do too while also introducing interesting concepts that follow themes in the song/map

olc already figured this out it's /s/519256
oopsie! probably some monstrata maps.

i feel like this is kind of what omdb charts show, right? both mappers and players use this website so the maps that are favorable to both groups will naturally float to the top
not enough players imo
And its not like all players have the same views on mapping. I think the players on this site lean more towards liking maps that mappers like than the average player.
as a player 🤓 and mapper i completely agree with what ajt said

i think a lot of mappers these days take the "player appeal" part so literally that they make boring but "playable" maps meanwhile older maps care more about playing experience as a whole rather than playability i think? either way they feel a lot better to play and are a lot more enjoyable IMO
