I farmed this so it's a good map

Imgaine being so fragile you block critique on your map

you can still critique the map through the comments, you just cant give it a score (which is a pretty useless form of critque since you cant say anything of substance through it)

something kind of unique about omdb as a website is that its content and its critique are coming from the same people; in contrast with a site like rym where a lot of artists will probably never know what people are saying about them on their release pages, mappers can hop on omdb and see an exact numerical average of how people (mostly mappers) feel about their maps, and contribute directly to the conversation that's being had about their work and the work of their peers. there's way more overlap in the venn diagram of the creator and the observer

that's really cool! but it also comes with the side effect of creators being very conscious of their averages, and of what every specific person who cares to chip in thinks about their maps. it makes sense to me that not every mapper wants to be subjected to criticism if they aren't asking for it. (not like a blacklist is completely bulletproof either lol; comment boxes are still free reign)

you can call it fragility if you want; to be frank, you'll probably be right every now and then. but i'd have to imagine a lot of people who blacklist themselves have more complicated reasoning than that. speaking as someone who's admittedly a little too obsessed with these numbers for my own good, it can be more pressure than it's worth, and i fully understand not wanting to deal with it

rare good post on this site
