i don't really get it

Huge map for annoying people

02:14:595 this is the best part bc slidershape qualities are consistently correlated to sounds in the music (which they usually aren't 02:06:537 (1,2,1,2,1)) and cursor speed is used well (which it usually isnt, i don't need to post a timestamp for this do i). the movement emphasis is kinda bizarre in this map cuz its actually there - most aes flex maps either play it safe (halgoh) or don't even get that far and just stop caring (any high density avalon mentee) - but it's not done well at all. it's not bad in the slow parts but it flops in the choruses when he tries to do stuff like this 03:48:537.

the slidershapes all fit together in theme but they're all very distinct yet constantly used for the same sounds: if ak74 could sort that out and made a map with similar visual contrast to rrtyui (e.g atomosphere or dorchadas) with good movement emphasis it would be game ending

sometimes i wonder if it's unreasonable to expect slider mappers to inject even a modicum of musical sensitivity into their maps. but then i remember: someone's done it before. and of course nothing needs to be said about ak74's slider design and arrangement. my only complaint is that the harmonies are somewhat obscured by the hitsounds

i feel like i dont get the slidershape logic is it representing the sounds or trying to looksmaxx im really confused

its not that fun to play for me unfortunately so if i cant enjoy that aspect of it then the map loses a lot of its appeal

brutal skillpill

has things to like for sure (very strong visual design elements for one) but really suffers when it comes to identifying intentionality within it, which, like, tbh... *is* a persistent issue of this style to me broadly (this map does sort of exemplify it well, though).

it's very difficult for one of these kinds of maps to feel as though they aren't "going through the motions" in a sense, interpreting the music in a particularly wide lens that translates to a callousness about the micro-level representations within the map. it isn't particularly evocative for very long, and the ideas that start the map strong have a tendency of way overstaying their welcome.

tldr:
• visually? quite pretty!
• choreographically? nothing to write home about, really (it feels as though its an afterthought if it even cleared that bar).
• representationally? it's about the same as every other map in this style (i suppose it depends on your view on the style itself, right?)

funny enough i came here cuz i enjoyed playing it the looks were a bonus
