Added. I made some last-minute editorial changes to this with Mismagius' approval
this descriptor reminded me of this /s/1077085
porter reference???
Does Michael Jackson: The Experience for the DS count as a "rhythm game"?
this name is a setback for sure. port alone was way better than this
yea, this works, tho ranking maps that are ports from other games shouldn't have happened in the first place... oh well
name weirdga but ok
seems much better to me
would something like 'game conversion' be better? as mentioned i'd like to avoid using the term convert for this
i like the idea but i don't like the current proposed name, feels awkward/unclear
I wish "sure" was an option for the votes lmao
for an example of a non-inis osu! case: /s/1642914
description could be better, will suggest later on but I definitely agree with the idea of this descriptor
This would be useful for anything that takes a map from another game entirely, regardless of gamemode. iNiS' maps already have the "iNiS style" descriptor attached to them, but this does not clarify whether they are inspired by the original games or actually ported from the original games.
I believe some other Taiko maps and Mania (DDR, Stepmania, GH/RB) graved maps would benefit from it.
It's a very specific descriptor but should be useful to categorise these specific scenarios.
e.g.
Sambomaster - Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to Yobunda ze (ZZT the Fifth)
Billy Fogarty - Jumpin' Jack Flash (m980)
Yu_Asahina - Trickstarz (hi19hi19)
"Convert" could also be used as a name but I feel like convert as a term is mostly used for automatic conversions between game modes in osu!.
