i think the song sets the bar extremely high and at the same time doesn't really provide anything to clear that bar and i don't think it's even possible to do anything outstanding here so honestly i just appreciate the attempt

i feel like this one is probably the one that nails the kiai sections of this more than any of the other ranked ones including v2b's and phillipines' but damn the radio part feels quite underwhelming, i get that it's trying to adhere to the style of the rest of the map but seeing all those bits of songs being represented by mostly the same exact style and a bunch of filler spinners made that part quite the sour experience :(
other than that it's still really good and enjoyable though
this map really makes me think about what raiko once said about me 'refusing to improve'. this is probably one of the best maps i've made in a technical sense (which doesn't really mean much i know) but it just wasn't fun to map at all. the process felt really frustrating and it felt like it took away all the joy that i have when usually mapping. it made me realize that i'd rather improve at my own pace and have fun while doing it.
it's not necessarily the FIRST map to do the things it did but it was definitely the one that popularized it the most while (at the time) being acclaimed by both mappers and players
basically besides the filler rhythm usage, there's a lot of creative symmetry usage for patterning which goes against the usual distance snapped stuff for the time, and even then some of the jumps that aren't symmetrical are quite interesting because most of the jumps back then were done by breaking from distance snap using pretty much exclusively just either higher distance snap (linear jumps) or playfield symmetry, while this map focuses a lot on pattern-based jumps e.g. 00:39:885 (4,1,2,3,4) -
also the whole thing about it using sharp angles on its jumps e.g. 01:20:732 (1,2,3,4) - made people start realizing that this sort of thing was more fun than a linear map, + in the era of "mapping styles" that were very identifiable because mappers just used the same patterns in different songs, galv stood out with all of these
it also has a decent song carry, if galv pulled this off on a less approachable song then it probably wouldn't have worked as well
oh i wasn't referring to your comment specifically, i just think this map does a lot of dumb stuff (like the breaks on the most intense part of the song) but it's so good for its time that it doesn't really matter
i can't really feel strongly about this map but i would personally tone down the antijumps or however you call them nowadays, especially when you mix them with ar9 and snappy movement
out of all possible takes i expected to read in the map comments "furries are the actual reason for the downfall of the ranked section" still managed to flashbang me
some of the best scream sliders in the game
kinda want to rank this at some point
damn girl i mean they/them

it's not that bad especially for 2009

for a 2009 map the questionable decisions can and should be excused
this map is an absurd statistic anomaly
other than that i feel like the tagging system in the ranked section will solve this issue and hopefully that happens within our lifetimes
+ i don't think "everything should be ranked" but maybe everything should have a leaderboard (in an ideal world where this is feasible)
if jimmy's favourite game is cat mario he deserves to suffer honestly
overtime but i kinda knew what i was doing this time
what did he mean by 02:08:819 (1,2,3,1,2,3) -
THIS IS 2010??????????
basara's lost cousin
i kinda love how this turned out other than maybe the first chorus, i wish i could rank it
objectively my best map
this being map of the week is quite surprising, thanks a lot lol
