this feels like the song is lowkey is a bit better just for listening rather than playing in a rhythm game
but there's a map of it regardless and it shows a lot in how engaging the map turns out... like the acoustic guitar section where there's a slight feeling of lingering awkwardly and it takes u out of it a lot...
i've had this happen with a lot of my maps and i get the exact same feeling out of them that i do with this map which is actually sad cuz the song is bussin.. also the part with the funky beat before the angsty climax could have been so much more fun and snappy but it's just boring idk
ive seen all of those maps before but i hadnt considered the aspects you mentioned in that way before. even though i disagree with some of the choices they make its good to understand why people like them. thanks for the good comment!
"do you have any any examples of maps that have good emotional representation"
so yeah i do But!!!! i should note that emotions r subjective experiences and as such talkin about them in relation to songs and maps can be very vague ;; its definitely something that i think is gona b difficult for me to express in a omdb comment section but i will Try My Best
SHISHAMO - Egao no Tonari (Zero__wind) demonstrates a low sr and movement-based example of wat i mean by emotional representaiton. the song helps in this regard of course but the map is very Bouncy when u play it and i feel like this complements the very groovy and upbeat nature of the song wonderfully tryin to convey like a content coziness :3
/s/598677 is a higher sr and rhythmic/intensity example; a lot of it only Loosely follows the song rhythmically but i think it is SO much better for it like it captures the raw and relatively-unstable character of the singer/lyrics.
monet - PicaPica (rinuko) while the most controversial of the ones ill list this one is a great example of using both additive and omitted represented rhythms !! this song is very lamenting and despondent and Depressed ;; the way its reperesented here makes the choruses emphasized pretty hauntingly through ignoring a ton of present instrumentation. it just feels so....... Anhedonic. in contrast the brief guitar flourishes being represented with very intense sv and additive rhythms i think emulates the cathartic feeling of sudden overwhelming grief or sorrow very well and thats why i love this map a lot :)
also hooooly shit i forgot how much i love kimi no gin no niwa hw is on another fuckin level. i could write about it but this comment is so fucking long already 😭
anyway i think the point im trying to make is that maps exist on a layer above the song and i feel like going for precise rhythmic and intensity representation is abandoning a world of opportunity wrt to interpretative stuff
thinkin about this more imm kinda like noooooooo about this map now like i think it eschews emotional representation and imapct for pure 1:1 song rhythmic representation and like i Get it but also aighaughagbhjk its underwhelming when u reach that catharsis in the song and its like Technically Good but i dont Feel it
@quantumvortex check out UC day and night
needs more 1/16s
if you had normal-hitwhistle at all you'd have more emotional representation 👍

also nice map man
This is like my favorite sb just ever
ohm killed with the sb and the ending is hype but the country section feels lacking
this sb is mwah unfortunately the song is boring which means the map has like 20 seconds of inetersting shit and even then its Ok idkkk
05:42:868 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,1) - you're crazy man
