also at the risk of getting baited into one of the stupidest discussions about mapping ever I genuinely do not understand how someone could say skystar's map is worse

i can understand people thinking this map is not offensive or people thinking skystar's map is not that good but what does this map do that skystar's doesn't

but yeah i think this one doesn't do anything that skystar haven't already

1) this isn't a pp map

2) it's mapped in a completely different way compared to skystar map - making 03:32:338 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15) - these as streams which is just a great idea in general, i've always imagined a map of this song having these moments as streams, and this approach works so well because of how it creates an opportunity for 03:47:005 - and 04:00:005 - to stand out and the mapper capitalized on it. I truly feel and appreciate how music and map join together to create an experience while playing this map.

3) I find it extremely ironic that people say this map was made without sound when clearly the one that was made without it is a skystar map, cuz when you look at the same timestamps as in point 2 its just sharp angle aimslop with absolutely 0 movement variety and filler rhythm. When playing this map i feel what you would expect from early sotarks map but with different visual wrapping and some kicksliders and bursts, except that sotarks maps were more fun to play. 01:57:344 (1,2,3,1,2,1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5) - like this has absolutely no regards to whats going on in the song its nothing but random slop and it happens everywhere + also in 999 other skystar maps

I can appreciate a different interpretation I just don’t think it does it in a compelling way here but that’s just me

I do agree that having moments as streams is a good idea but I think the rest of the map just dissolves it

i agree with sanch the skystar map always felt like mindless spam 2 me (like many of his other maps) I do like the diffspiking in it tho it kinda feels less impactful in this maybe But the map feels like it has a clearer goal, 01:31:588 (8,13,14,15,1) - like this being consistent thingy (its cool but it rly sucks in places like 01:37:172 (15,16,1) - this coz ur not putting any emphasis on the white so no reason to slow down cursor momentum) Also really like how 05:24:005 this section is handled + the very obvious difficulty progression throughout

in the end tho i dont think i rly like this approach despite it being very valid methinks i just really hate the skystar nathan map lol

Also potentially this just isnt executed too well in terms of mapping visuals rhythm blah blah blah and that maybe brings it down (personally i think the streams being visual slop ruins it a little for me thts why i like the straight bursts at like 5 mins its coolk )

map is ok, while i personaly am not the biggest fan of skystars map, its not compareable. Its best to just enjoy both maps for what they are.

its an ok map

it's now very funny cuz (1) one points out that the map is mapped to hihats; (2) another one points out that those hihats are edited (by skystar, the same reason as asymmetry); (3) another one says it is better than skystar's map

and for this chain of implications i think loctav should be added into the tag of this mapset

already thought skystars map was just a density "dumpchart" but that followed the song a lot more and i found it more fun

this just feels like stream spam that ignores the song 70% of the time so i cant say i enjoy it at all

also random fate bg on unrelated song cringe

the 1/4 is technically mapped to hihats, but what the long streams truly do is foreground the vocals while excluding everything else. the mapper even takes care to make the streams fully smooth, with zero angles, so as to avoid emphasizing the drum rhythms

so it feels like it was mapped without music because the singer is only saying 1 syllable every 2 seconds, but there is a real musical perspective there. interpretively i much prefer skystars though
