idk i remember not liking it immediately like 2 years ago but it was much funnier than i remember so thats fye

i think this is very distinct from what hw did because this one tries to do multiple different gimmicks with snapping/overlaps/spinners/difficulty progression, so it ends up being a mashup of multiple interesting ideas into something thats nonsensical

a lot of the old hw maps had one idea and everything in the map was in service to that idea, this one tries to do way too much where if it was only focused around building up to the crazy 1/8 streams (for example) it could have been rly interesting imo

think its all about the "nonsense" part and the difficulty of the "nonsense" is just a byproduct that isn't inherently the problem outside of missnaps. if anything what you're talking about is difficulty in relation to the song which is the unholy beast of song representation. idk I wasn't there for HW though it's my first day out here

it's a fair guess that anyone "dunking on HW" would do so cuz her work is either too difficult or nonsensical. so i don't really find downpour's gripe to be fair since this map is more difficult and nonsensical than anything HW ever made. the difficulty directly stems from this nonsense as well, there's snapping errors within additive rhythm which is a development i didn't even know was possible.

not that much more difficult if we consider the average top player skill at the time vs. genryuu kaiko and top players today vs. this. why would difficulty have anything to do with anything anyway

worth noting that this is more difficult than anything HW has ever submitted by a comfortable margin

i do think people would be more willing to reapproach this map's ideas sometime down the line if not for the comments so i'd say it has relevance in that case
but idk not sure how this site works

this map would be largely disliked no matter if downpour decided to engage in conversation or not, optics really has no significance here

anyways, my take on the map is that its not bad, but the rigidity of it feels contrary to what the map is trying to portray. the circle streams have an industrial sort of feel to them rather than the romantic expressiveness that seems to be the intentions. also I dont like the lack of visual clarity betweeen the 5-6 combo spacing and the 16-1 combo spacing with the streams, both from a visual and playability standpoint.

00:39:988 - 01:04:791 is pretty good, and also the rhythm progression between the 01:12:897 (1,2,3) things and the 01:28:383 (1,2,3,4) things

what expressiveness this map does display in the form of interpretive rhythm is mostly tarnished by a lack of interesting choreographic elements/experience and a lack of restraint wrt the execution of prior ideas on th part of the mapper. it kind of falls flat to me because of that

while u could argue that nexta has worse mapping fundamentals i think that for most people the way u chose to map this is too egregious to look past as theres a difference between overmapping and just inventing 8-9* 1/8 deathstreams

I'm gonna be honest I totally understand why this map is so divisive but to me this map captures emotion in a raw way. I'll write a little more on it later.
