gm🤤🤤
o ok, good mornin g,
i woke up and idc anymore but i am writing to let you know i have read your comment
meeeoww//.////.......
Someone needs belly rubbiezzz
never im.quitting cuz lazwr
im still logged in
i wasnt saying anything other than the map is annoying to retry for random patterns there isnt hoop jumping or anythign about the trick shit
rest devolved into some bs on how i experience art its not crazy i think
when is u actually coming back man
i got 95 4 miss on sightread am i #valid omdb
can you go back to vinglish it was way easier to read
you don't have to jump through all these hoops
i feel like this was completely sightreadable but tricky to acc hence i feel like its "tricky enough", i can't really say what patterns he specifically intended to play in what way so i cant comment on that but it was moderately fun anyways although a few things were kinda scuffed
if anything id say that by the description i wouldve expected it to be harder but lowkey i like the fact that its sightreadable to combo at least as usually maps with steep learning curves dont interest me (skill issue......) because i cant be bothered
or tldr basicall ,y i dont mean that tricvky shit really anyway idc, i just think the ma pis ridiculkously annoying idk w/e im proly gonna stop here before i get distracted for hours even tho i actually do really like talking about art even if its not really related to the map, i gotta do shitttt fuckk, G ,n
well i dont really mean its tricky but its notr rticky i think th elearning process in this map is unintentional and annoying cuz of that so feel free to read the rest if u want since i think this is basically unrelated to ur core issue of that notion of being tricvky but not moreso just trying to explain it so that it makes sense at all to anyone
yea ia gree about the placements i meant the intention of the kind of effect those placements give but u could say those are the same things iguess
ok like im tryin g to refer to the experience that I at least get often where i go "wow this doesnt seem like something the artist intended to provide with this at all, it was probably something else, but its lost now and i will never get it, OR i get it but it unfortunately also comes with this other thing that probably wasn't intended which falters the experience for me" and the latter was this map, IO FEeel like theres reasons people like and dont like things and it boils to that and i consider those design flaws when someone experiences something and gets that impression of "this part of the experience is probably not what they wanted to add"
I THINK WHE N somnething feels intended to me, then it feels like its a good experience regardless of the intention, this did not feel like it was intended to me at all, rarely its something that is intended and i get it and it feels intended and it was just something boring cuz of everyone already doing it (possibly better, and feeling like they didnt work off of people that had did that thing already) (also basically why i hvae a shitton of 4 stars)
also even when it doesnt seem like its intended if its not distracting or annoying from what feels like was intended to me, or even something interesting to me, then its like w/e thats epic
al;s o i dont mean this as some "objective" viewpoint im just trying to explain to give sense of where i am coming from that has given me sense of what i like and dont like that is effecting my personal experience with this to the point it gave me a 0.5 star, or i guess u could just say this is some kind of "framework" i jhad made sense of "so far" to make sense of myself, frankly anyone can derive any experience from anything, AND IT can amke sense, AND that's the beauty of it all art and existence, but im basically jujst 5trying to make sense here
also g n
btw i am going to sleep now
like you hated it so much and arent satisfied with it being a subjective hatred, it has to be objectively bad somehow
thats all fine. it sounds like you played it, and it was hard but in a way you didnt like, or just didnt like the map itself, and gave it ahlf a star. which i have zero problem with. but then being like "well it said tricky but its not tricky" is just kinda annoying, esp to someone like me who is fond of the map
not too interested in getting into specifics of what is or isnt a "design flaw" here. but after a certain point, even a mediocre mappers placements and rhythms are all (or almost all) intentional, let alone a mapper like kiddly. these are choices you can like or dislike, agree or disagree with, but i couldnt call them "flaws." i honestly have not seen a "flaw" in ages, even from maps i really hate, and i think calling it a flaw is simply incorrect. tbh it sounds like you just hated the map and for some reason arent satsified with just saying "idk i just dont like it" and have to come with all this othe rstuff that to me makes no sense
re: your last comment; it was kind of hard to parse so i coulda misinterpeted some stuff idk
not as meaningful i meant jkust meaningful at all wouldbe good enough, but yea
funno if this makes sense at all cuz its 6 am and i havent slept for 32 hrs
idrc THAT MUch about a map being tricky regardless, but i think nothing more to say actually could be a "tricky" map thats out of my ass tho, but i also dont really care about the Discourse On The Existence Of A Tricky Map
u can play it and then get fucvked by a thing that wasnt based on what the mapper set out and then go Ah fuck and then play it again and then ur not fuvked by that thing but then instead based on adapting to the new design principles of the map u go on to the next thing and get fuvcvked by that and go Ah fuck and then play it again and repeat to the point where it gets nontrivially annoying; Obv not as bad as something like tsuki yue tho, but i dont think its something that Doesnt happen to people in this map (quite evidently so)
i also dont think its a reading or understanding thing just a striaght up design fault, i think its more a reading thing if its choices that ISNT just some random shit u get by going "oh.... what" and play again and u then u just get it, and i dont think there should be an "acceptable limit" for retry spamming for something a mapper does for what they felt was good with the song that may not be in line with the shit they did before.
Basically I think u should just consider it (like mikazuki) or not and keep away from it, and retries are better put into just honing ur "skill" if ur just "skill issued" instead of adapting to what i legitimately think is a design fault, but i understand if u dont really have an issue with someething like this which it sounds like, because the end experience of it all becomes meaningful for u, the journey to me has to be as meaningful to the end experience and i dont get it from this
by that logic literally no map could ever be "tricky"
i also dont think the map is that hard to even read or understand?? even if the map doesnt immediately click with you, just listen to the song, play it literally 3 times, give it a glance in editor if you have to. it's not tsuki yue
its okey 💔 also my comment is a joke
i lik e to looka t he map instead of approach circles.... im sory......
we wouldn't be having this discussion if 99% of yall didnt suck at reading lolz
dunno i dont think retry spam cuz the map is so ambitious is actually a tricky thing tod o its just annoying, the rest i never really disagreed with
not you specifically but yes partially
i think circles and sliders should be the main factor in how you judge a map otherwise why are you even looking at a map? there are probably a few exceptions, this is not one of those exceptions
if you dont like the circles and sliders thats fine i literlaly do not care
judging a map based on how cheesable it is is silly imo. you can cheese anything. you can aim the sliderticks on notch hell. you can mash/doubletap streams. you can doubletap jumps. you can ignore sliderbodies on sliders. thats not on the map, thats on you.
plus isn't the fact that you had to "brute force" it at all a sign that the map was indeed to some extent tricky? and isn't the map itself sign enough that "trickiness" was not the SOLE goal, that he also wanted as usual to make a generally good beatmap that represented the song etc etc -- ie circles and sliders?
idk if that was based on what i said but i just want to say that i think the experience obtained from a beatmap is more than just from the circles and sliders and spinners placed in given temporal positions, and I think they matter quite a decent amount actually.
Especially considering something like a diff name which already provides the audience an expectation of what they are going to get (e.g. Extra difficulty is gonna have some stuff that is seen in extra difficulties)
BUT regardless i would not like this map even if the diff name and the "original intention" were different. To me they have a trivial level of bearing on my experience of this map, but they do provide at least some vague insight into the thought process of making this map).
The way this map is played is through brute force, and its not communicated in a manner to me that seems like it was intentional from the patterning choices kiddly had made, and i also frankly don't like a kaizoblock mario i wanna be the boshy experience unless its gameplay loop is well thought out like celeste is :3
if i were to map a homage to hollow wings and yet my map wouldn't play or look anything like my intentions state, it's fair to criticize it, however that doesn't take away from the actual map though. even if it fails being a homage, the map can still be good regardless of the intention. if you think that the map as a whole is disappointing or not up to your standards then all good.
i think it's fair criticism to take the intention behind the map into account
uhhhhhhhhh the map description does say it's supposed to be tricky
"umm it says TRICK but its not TRICKY enough??"
who gives a fuck about the diffname man just look at the map. this is like looking at notch hell and saying "umm but where are the NOTCHES?" if u dont like the map in general thats fine but i feel like that criticism in particular is dumb
and anything u dont brute force is too straightforward
Yea he flopped legit there isn't even a trick u just brute force
this↓
thjis map is just like u play everything as 1/4 and then memorize the 2 hard parts
meow
@-penta burai is rankable as long as you don't have to move your cursor to 300 it im pretty sure
DIFF[TRICK] HAS CONFUSING ARRANGEMENT/RANDOM SPACING AS TRICKY FEATURE
otherwise this is cool
01:08:480 (1) - is this rankable
i wish it leaned harder into the random placement
whats so offensive about this map
choosing this map for a comment on the ranking criteria is pretty lol
melloesleep
why even have a ranking criteria anymore honestly
i loggd on to omdb just to say this but what the fuck is melloe on about
i dont like this map because i can't read it
came for uohhhh stayed for anti vinxiscore kiddly
lmao map is fine it just didnt rly wow me so eh
shouldve made whole thing hp8
ANTI VINXISCORE KIDDLY
also the background sucks
this is pretty cool for me i think
why is this map so mashable it completely ruins the experience
incredible song, and i dont think ive had so much fun playing a map in years. it knows when to stay and go according to the ebb and flow of the harmony. the chords refuse to resolve themselves, and to reflect this the map keeps itself in a state of perpetual rhythmic tension. it's not just the awkwardly bunched up notes, but the spaces between them: the airiness of the 1/2 sliders, the pre-kiai 1/2 gaps that then progress into the relentless kiai. it's a constant push and pull that never really finds release until the final note.
also working spectacularly with the tension of the song is kiddly's customary tidy linear cs5 style; it's like a molecular structure that is never broken and thus preserves its anxious energy. the contrast between structure and release is made especially stark in the modern-day mapping era, where mappers have liberated themselves from structure—rendering kiddly's style that much more effective here. this particular dynamic really only works with a song like nightwear; thus kiddly brings something new out of the song, and the song brings something new out of kiddly.
Fair
it fails at being "tricky" as omar told me but plays fine actually so w/e
its Ok i think it ruined omar's day even more
i'm terribly sorry
also i've gone through this map twice and i'm left very confused
he said anti vinxiscore kiddly im gonna do unspeakable stuff today
anti vinxiscore kiddly is this real
