arles ending doesnt have spinner or slider to finish the map off, just feels empty, -1 star

With that being said, I agree that the arguments in my post weren't really helpful, and mostly resulted from my ignorance in old style mapping (given that old maps also mapped streams that way), as well as the value in "unpredictable gameplay" as malphs explained in his reply.
My point about streams not lining up to strong sounds was 100% my own bias about how I think streams should be mapped, and I didn't know that old maps used to map streams that way too.
@mismagius Well, my underlying message was exactly that.
This archetype of map should not be ranked for two reasons imo:
1) The map's overall quality is abysmally low. Despite the interesting concept of increasing difficulty as the song progresses-pitch wise (which is an interesting concept for sure, but not unheard of), that concept and the exciting level of difficulty that comes along with it is the ONLY THING the map has going for it. The execution of the rest of the map like structure and visual patterning (e.g blankets, parallelism, symmetry, geometry etc.) is pretty much nonexistent. But it just so happens that you can't really mention these apects in the beatmap discussion, as these concerns were historically considered as far too subjective (at least, that's how I was taught when mapping/modding).
2) There's no reason to rank this.
Typically, ranking a map brings these advantages above Graveyarded maps:
- More exposure (as the "has leaderboard" section is the default one on the beatmap listing)
- A leaderboard
All of these advantages were already present on Arles' loved mapset, which begs the question "Why rank a (subjectively) low-quality diff which already has a map that earned plenty of exposure and a longstanding leaderboard?". The only answer I could think of is pp, because that's quite literally the only difference between a Ranked map and a Loved map. But this map is so absurdly difficult to where people will barely getting pp out of it anyways (though I'd love to be proven wrong).
@yumenexa as someone who posted against ur concerns i feel like u tried with the wrong reasoning which was basically "loved type maps shouldnt be ranked" rather than highlighting what would make this map not suitable for ranked in any way
either way i dont really see the problem with this being ranked even i f i personally am not a big fan of the top diff
