I never understood why people keysound in standard despite the song still playing even if you miss notes (as opposed to some games where this practice originated from). You would think that under these circumstances someone would use the samples to add another melody or something on top of the song, instead of copy-pasting what's already there for nobody to notice unless they happen to disable music volume in the editor. But that's neither here nor there.

I think avalon was a godsend for mapping theory, but it doesn't seem to be effective in teaching people how to innovate upon that theory, bend the principles (the word "rule" scares people), and have ideas in relation to the song they're mapping. It's like a mathematician trying to use category theory to do their finances. Theory ought to be applied within reason.

I can't definitively call this map bad; it's a good map in the most technical sense that the objects do not tend to contradict each other on screen given the approach time, but it's not something I would get excited to play because of how visually sterile it is while also being seemingly untestplayed. The 1/2 spam in the in choruses, non-sequitur spacing, and lack of attention paid to aim strain give me that impression.

Anyway, I don't feel strongly about this map so I'll refrain from voting on it. These are just some general gripes I felt would be appropriate to post on a map that ticks both boxes. Sorry for posting cringe

I think I agree

Sad bg change

Some real vasco da gama shit

This guy is a social experiment

Remind me why content review exists in this game? Seems useless lol

Nice map, just don't really like the overlapping 1/2

Tbh this set needed more of people doing their own thing

@Uberzolik Cuz im using my fucking eyes and not trying to philosophize Hmm which mapper was Kalibe thinking about at 2pm on the day he started making this map (because if it's AIR like others say then he failed epic style)

Lesjuh is still the undisputed GOAT of 2009 but this map is a great example of hitsounding with your eyes so +rep

If he had made this map a year later it probably would have been some of the best stuff in ranked

Really pushes the limits of what's considered music I guess?

People could learn a thing or two about sv emphasis from the kiai

It's ok.

Hell even modern clackclack skins have slightly distinct sounds for hitnormal hitwhistle hitfinish etc but naw just put whistles on literally every object it's fine lawl

More lazy kicksnarekicksnare hitsounding that makes no feedback distinction between active and inactive rhythm but it's fine because there are keysounds that you can barely notice in gameplay 👍

pickle souls

Okay now that everyone has calmed down ill just post a reminder that there are at least 15 xchippy maps that look exactly like this

@olc
FWIW I'm not saying we shouldn't take a map's legacy into account of its rating, I'm just saying reason why it's rated so highly. I don't see how what I said is "insane" considering most people on this site use 3 stars as the mid button even though it's literally a higher than average rating.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the weighting system actually at fault for this map being at #1?

This one is for the history books

What the actual fuck is happening in the ginseng strip and still dre parts????????

Pretty cute map

Plays somewhat nicely but ive always been able to see through the intentionally shitty visuals as "i have no idea how to make my map look good so if i fuck it up on purpose nobody can criticize it x-D"

Not really a fan of the reading strain

Best swing map in osu it would be a 5.5 if he kept the 300bpm bursts
