i rate low if i havent had big tasty in a while

when I rate low it's 100% to show aggression and hate for the map and mapper

i wasnt critiquing the purpose of low ratings or how a value would affect a person (though i can see how u came to that assumption). my original message was me showing distaste of ppl gathering around to a consensual dislike over what would be generic map #2034672 among many like it already.

but yeah thats a fair point of people piling up to rate whenever a consensus is reached or a huge discussion is seen so its the easiest thing to rate ala exposure.

something i didnt realize before sending was that i cant critique what ppl wanna rate cause it isnt incorrect. but i can enjoy using omdb like i have been

look i get what ur saying but its important to remember that someone giving a map a low rating does NOT necessarily mean any of the following:

- they hate the map with a burning passion
- they don't think the map should exist
- they don't understand or respect the purpose of the map existing

while not denying that other valid perspectives exist, people on this website will always most commonly be rating from the average "mapper perspective". and while i agree that that perspective presents such a unanimous view on these types of maps that rating them so much is kinda pointless, people will always rate them a lot because they're just the easiest ratings to give! that's how rating websites naturally work

furthermore, i don't believe most people mean to send hate or aggression through a low rating - it's just that that's what might come across when seeing it with no other context. it's a gap in communication. solving *that* is a much bigger conversation, though

im seeing the same pattern over and over with the community getting bigger, ppl mapping things for fun cause they could or feel like doing, and the bar gets more and more lenient. it feels pointless crying out expectations for maps like this cause theres already many similar ones in the system and u cant stop maps like this going for rank

see u at the next song nostalgia "deemed low quality" map that gets dogpiled and forgotten about 3 weeks later
