genuinely appreciate the reply btw, I think it's quite useful
as a classically trained pianist (lmao, not trying to be credentialist but just contextualizing) I think applying rubato is not only incoherent with the idea of a rhythm game but also generally never done with percussion even in performance - to do this on a DNB map (which is an electronic, quantized genre overwhelmingly about the percussion and wouldn't fundamentally work w/ rubato even in the song) definitely doesn't work for me
as for patterning, I can definitely agree that there's a sense of coherence and intentionality to every object placed, but for me i'm left feeling like there wasn't really any payoff, like there is just a silly idea that sits there in blank space, never given the catharsis that it deserves I guess

feel the same way about some of kuyusu or heilia's sketches among others as well, where the mapper is undeniably incredibly competent but I'm just unable to derive any enjoyment (or understanding, really) out of the map
every kalibe collab ever is absolute dogshit within 2 objects of the collab partner starting; I was waiting for this to happen for the whole map and it didn't
this map's rhythm is so natural that it feels obvious, effortless, like anyone could do it, until you look at the other sets and see how disappointing the rhythm choice is compared to this

dimwit -> topdiff better because high sr
midwit -> extra better because less inted/better song representation/better visuals/whatever
now -> topdiff better because these jumps are so fucking raw how did they do it man
i feel like 90% of jump maps (and 99% of pattern aim ones ESPECIALLY) are just plowing through one pattern after another but this map is absolutely not like that at all
i definitely think this is a novel experience within this client but it's not really one that's particularly compelling to me + maybe i'm just cynical or something but it felt tacky/like it was trying too hard so I definitely didn't feel any emotional impact the map was just funny to me more than anything
i didn't really think this map could ever be a 4 personally, but also i guess 02:52:527 (1) - if you thought this was leading up to anything rather than just silly density contrast section i guess it was way too unsubtle of a patterning choice
