Elaboration: I think this is the most quintessential komachi map (not my favorite) even considering the intricacies of his memorial maps but rn i kind of treat this map as smth i just play and have fun on

not the worst map of all time

My views on the map haven’t changed but I actually find the opposite feeling where the first impression felt a lot more impactful

Map feels fine, i like some of the ideas and execution is like 50/50 to me. I respect the attempt tho. Not my cup of tea style wise but its not a reason to dislike it.

genuinely awesome in a lot of ways but i agree that the hitsounds are very inconsistent, and not in an artful way

took a few plays but this kinda grew on me a lot

i dont hate it, but it feels like it tries too hard to be special, chaotic for the sake of chaos. weird streams/alts always fun though.

i won't talk about the map but hitsounds are pretty awful, abundance of snares in multiple parts (where they're used on pretty much every click) sounds so fucking obnoxious - especially since the sample is one of the loudest ones around

gameplay seems fire idk its just too ugly for me (tho some objects connect fine).

i liked starseed cus the connections are more stable for me and the map just stood out a lot for me personally i cant really tell why. as such its not a rating that im very confident in since i prefer to have some more objective grounding to stand on.

I can appreciate people mapping according to their own personal interpretations but whether other ppl will share those interpretations seems to be rng as fuck so i feel like i have to place less value into those kinda maps

density management and overall proportions/pacing are done very nicely

also the map has quite a few interesting and risky yet stable slider setups (03:32:350 (2,3) - 02:31:361 (1,2,3,4) - 06:04:987 (3,1) - etc)

my personal problem is that theres a lot of decisions that are either too unstable (sometimes borderline dysfunctional) purely from a mechanical pov, or too bland and safe compared to what is going on around it

map for me does everything ok but spacing emphasis is legit lackluster, I feel like I'm just watching the same exact spacing being played all the way through in every section, I respects the usage of this weird slider structure

@Camo wonder who you are talking to - whenever I, personally, discussed this topic I was always opposing having this elitist approach. This is something that was created by the community (aswell as the buzzwords like "emotional mapping" or fucking "renaissance mapping") and that is being used to label me, my friends and other mappers for years while all we did is just made maps.

People prefer assuming stuff based on nothing and never really trying to ask a mapper directly (again, as for me I was always mentioning that I'm open to proper discussions). But I guess it's easier to just have fun in the comments also not forgetting to be mean to a certain mapper. In this thread people assume you must understand some hidden ideas in order to enjoy my map, yeah cool, now guess who these people got this belief from - they imagined it themselves.

@others I've learned myself that there's no sense in trying to outargue many people at once, this is why I'm used to being absent from such discussions and to never taking them to heart. But after witnessing this prejudice for years it really becomes a pity to look at some of the commenters from here or from previous occasions. I'm sorry to break it to you, but you literally imagined some evil entities and decided that you have to fight against them. Just imagine how you look from others' point of view. Hope my words can calm this needless uncontrollable anger of some people in this thread and make their lives a bit easier.

Of course this set doesn’t take such an aggressive approach to distance itself from conventional rhythm structures but the DNA is there.

@espii you rated starseed a 4.5 so I think you must at least have a passing interest in this sort of stuff regardless of how you feel after your first impression

Not sure I get UC from this though, definitely seemed moreso in the realm of stuff frakturehawkens creates.

Wears it's inspirations on it's sleeve, some really cool rhythm interpretations. The abrasive patterning is too much for me on first go around, guess we'll see with time if I warm up to it.
