i dont really know how to form an opinion on this map but please watch the video. i cant believe i just heard an osu mapper pull out the phrase "turning number"
i wasnt gonna write anything but now maybe i should lol
at first playing this map i was like "wow this is some hilarious vibemapping" but then i looked at it in the editor while having effect volume turned down and i realized most of it is just insane attention to tiny details of the song. theres so much fascinating percussion and other shit going on but its so buried in the mix that its tempting to build the foundation of your rhythm on the vocals and then lean on random other stuff when you need to fill gaps. i have a lot of respect for this topdiff because rather than doing that, it seems like she challenged herself to let every layer of the song play an almost equal role in her decisionmaking. that is an idea i would like to pull inspiration from eventually, but i think it only works so well here because of the way the song is constructed, and this is a truly unique and beautiful song. i dont know that i will be able to find anything else like it for a while
(i could write a whole second paragraph about How The Map Uses Symmetry but that is a much more obvious point to make lol)
only other thing i want to say is that this is probably one of the hardest 5 stars ive ever played and i really want to fc it

fair enough, i think there are a good amount of glass beach songs that (when mapped) will suffer from this solely due to the song structure
however i will say a lot of tracks from their new album follow a more conventional arc of intensity!
