something kind of unique about omdb as a website is that its content and its critique are coming from the same people; in contrast with a site like rym where a lot of artists will probably never know what people are saying about them on their release pages, mappers can hop on omdb and see an exact numerical average of how people (mostly mappers) feel about their maps, and contribute directly to the conversation that's being had about their work and the work of their peers. there's way more overlap in the venn diagram of the creator and the observer
that's really cool! but it also comes with the side effect of creators being very conscious of their averages, and of what every specific person who cares to chip in thinks about their maps. it makes sense to me that not every mapper wants to be subjected to criticism if they aren't asking for it. (not like a blacklist is completely bulletproof either lol; comment boxes are still free reign)
you can call it fragility if you want; to be frank, you'll probably be right every now and then. but i'd have to imagine a lot of people who blacklist themselves have more complicated reasoning than that. speaking as someone who's admittedly a little too obsessed with these numbers for my own good, it can be more pressure than it's worth, and i fully understand not wanting to deal with it
anyways a proper collab between these two (not saying the other mapper to give you ample chance to check the map and figure out who it is (its very easy)) could be earthshattering. two mappers that have perfected the design-gameplay balance at their peaks
> vinxis quits osu out of disappointment with lazer, mainly because of slideracc
> lazer client features a vinxis map
> part of it plays like shit in lazer because of slideracc
hadnt played this before today but had a general idea of what the map was, really like this song but 3.87 & top 100 seemed kinda overrated to me but i totally get it. progresses really nicely. the most fun you can have in osu clicking a bunch of perfectly stack circles in a row. reading maps can be fun and good guys
visuals kinda leave a little to be desired? cant be too upset about it cuz this is way more focused on the gameplay end of things. i guess if youre making a reading map to be accessible to most osu players, simpler & easier to recognize patterns are what u want. maybe im just a little tired of dscos style. so many 60 degree angles
silverboxer diff is swag. maybe im fried but i think its dope
thank you based dog
upvoting comments on this site cannot come soon enough
