honestly i don't think this chorus is handled badly: its kinda hard for me to articulate things that i think are actively bad that i could see being done better by someone i liked without just not being the same map anymore especially since this song just does not have anything interesting to map imo
but also i don't like the chorus for a variety of reasons
like i get that everything is fine about the visuals gestalt principles etc. but i have always disliked when patterns stretch themselves really far along one axis even if it like has a lot of visual connections along that axis 00:30:187 (3,4,5,1)
i dont like maps from certain mappers because of this issue whereas maps with really compelling visual to me almost always spacefill both vertically and horizontally (kibb)
and then uh the slidershapes used dont really make gameplay thats interesting for me either. something i really like about sharu/hawkens/neil and basically nobody else is that theres compelling different ways where u leave a slider or follow a slider like sometimes u cheesemax deluxe and then snap out and sometimes u just follow it but this map just handles every slider the same way
i really dont like the rhythm choice it feels like additive triples are placed because u want to place a pattern and it's visually unintrusive to add th etriple rather than to follow any sound or make clicking fun
and then i think i liked the slow fast thing u had going in the non chorus parts but 00:18:928 (5) - 00:45:447 (1,2) - etc. then there are parts that just kinda kill it because u made it too spaced or whatever
I wonder if there are other maps that have gotten like a hundred people to play/read the source material
like I wonder if there's a lot of umineko readers that spawned from rog-unlimitation or people that read ISLAND because of one of the eternal stars etc.
one of the best post-condemnation wings elvis maps but I still think this is gapped by his old version
it reverses the slider velocities used in the original chorus but this doesn't work as well because the slow parts are broken up with jumps and shit anyway. in the original you hold the slow ass vocal slider for a whole beat and it's like crack
not only is this an "average" (bad) stream map but also picks a cs that demands design choices to accommodate it (either re: playfield traversal or just generally clustering patterning more tightly) and then doesn't do them
also, people who tend to rate ctrl shift f slop poorly don't even click on songs called The Glorious Dragon Valley of Power or whatever but they will click on shimotsuki haruka songs to rate them
i've always found the highly varied reactions to stealing pretty funny and also quite confusing. thieves are met with responses ranging from worship (skystar) to mockery (pikaquors). is it about permission? well, in that case, stealing from yourself would be permissible, but given the reactions to this, it's not quite that either. like clearly this is supposed to be "themed stealing" in the way that the mapper linked the two mapsets by ranking at the same time but people are upset over this regardless
It is true that a lot of people who are written off as hacks later are discovered to be "great men of history," van gogh, most famously, but also melville and thoreau and others besides
————but the sentiment of "I am a great genius and you'll be sorry when I'm gone," I've only ever seen shared by hacks
like 01:03:944 (2) - I can understand getting this wrong (this is a hard progression to get right) but for some reason the second half of chorus was completely fine the first time around and then it just got changed to complete nonsense for no reason???
ok I never listened to the hitsounds but setting aside the other things that are wrong with them
01:46:773 (7) this feels like it's trying to invent its own chord progression except it doesn't even make any musical sense? like this is ii for no reason when this song is not doing that at all but even then i-ii-V doesn't make sense as a progression either
ok I kinda get it more now
welcome back chaser01

good map bad song
letting yourself get carried by the song is lowkey a skill that people dont have nowadays
pretty good chrono diver pastiche
04:07:185 (1,1,1,2) really like this one
might be my favorite 445

04:34:264 (3,1) - these 2 fguckass sliders stuck in my head for all time now this is the last words slider pattern its so cool
01:24:775 (1,2,3,4,5,1,1,2,3,4,1,1,2,1,1,2,1,1,2,1,2,1,2,1) -
sick asf
ok then just don't leave a comment ?
this might be my fault
i probably should have told you to not map this because it was always just going to be a t*rnament map if you map a song like this for a slot

also, incidentally
