wow, i didn't go into this map expecting to be this impressed, especially because i'm not really a big fan of jonathanlfj. but this map could easily have its place as a pinnacle of "inoffensive mapping" or whatever buzzword you could attach to it. didn't bore me a single second, just pulled me into the map for its entire duration. insanely consistent quality mapping, bravo.

This map is a musical experience. there are still not many maps that achieve to be as well tied to the music as this map does. every transition between different parts, every idea for each section of the song, everything in this map is done so beautifully.

this map is okay, but it still felt more engaging than plain so it still left a pretty positive impression on me. while it wasn't anything special for me, i believe for all the russian mapping fans which i know there are a lot, this would be a hard-hitter.

a classic stream map, it's really cool to see how Muya manages to catch musical nuances through seemingly pretty simple distance snap'd patterns. kinda flexing their mastery in mapping really, to this day this map puts the majority of stream maps to shame.

this is yet another "specialty" map on the chart after BASARA, and i like this map for similar reasons. v2b decides not to follow the music strictly, but to create an experience of cruising along with it, which in my opinion is done quite successfully. though i believe that was done better on Byakuya Gentou, this map is not to be ruled out still.

this map is not bad at all. i'd even say there's delicacy and care put into it, but it's not quite vibing with me, because of stylistic choices that the mapper makes. this map makes me want more of something at all points. it could be more guitar mapping in the guitar solo part, and since i'm kinda fried right now so i can't put into words very well, but the gameplay kinda felt like clearing one pattern and then another. it didn't click with me very well. i actually like the low bpm part the most lol.

successful recipe for a map:
have the coolest fucking idea for song interpretation ever
do it consistently throughout the map
profit 👍

what do i have to say about this map?
this map has some of the best implementations of 2B patterning i've ever seen. throughout the map there are moments and moments where rustbell flexes their genius with cool ideas.
but i'm torn. i'm really torn on this map. while it is a cool map it still feels like an idea dump where rustbell was kinda just testing things out, and that makes the map as a whole a somewhat weak package.
i can't give this map a rating. there really isn't a good number that i think is fair, any possible rating feels.. wrong.

really well considered movement especially for its time, within its simplicity the map manages to be engaging with how sensibly done the mapping is. this is one of the textbook examples of "inoffensive mapping" but that doesn't mean it's boring or anything. a classic.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #35

i think the map does do more than meets the eye, but i fail to see how this isn't just an okay light insane diff that doesn't leave you feeling like you wasted your time but doesn't exactly leave you very satisfied with the experience either. with so many different parts that the song provides i feel like this map could have been something so, so much more.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #36

i like how the map kinda builds up for the last part where it goes really ham, this map's progression is well considered to follow along the music imo. it doesn't try to do too much but it still does a pretty good job.

i like when notelock killed me and my entire family
i'm actually kinda torn on this map. on one hand this map has really cool ideas that it successfully executes, and on the other hand i.. kinda don't vibe with it?
i suppose it's still more than just a serviceable map, but i wish i liked it as much as others do.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #38

it's a good ass map. all the awkwardness presented throughout the map, all the wacky streams, they feel just right. a really successful attempt at whatever the mapper was going for.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #39

nold is like one of the only mappers who could fuck around but still with a lot of charisma and finesse. dude's mind is like an enigma to me how one could come up with all the ideas presented in the map, my little peasant mind could never. really cool map, this was basically the Sennen of mid 2010s, it deserves all the praise it gets.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #40

wow, this map aged really well. classic 0108 mapping with wacky sliders which i kinda have a soft spot for. really though, a very engaging map where you can tell that the mapper actually listened to the song while mapping it.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #41

i think for its time this map was pretty epic, not many maps of this difficulty actually had patterning as sensible as this map. i don't think it aged SUPER well, but hell does it not feel outdated at all. pretty good overall

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #42

yea, uh, okay map, alright. there really isn't much to say about it. it's just okay.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #43

mhm, still as fun and creative as i remember it, HW showing off her gimmicky mapping ability in a super engaging way. the spotlight of the map is obviously the fullscreen slider parts but it wouldn't be so good if the rest of the map fell flat comparatively, and HW still does the song justice with nice and dancy patterns. just one gripe though, i feel like, to "foreshadow" the gimmick of the map there are some long sliders that kinda cut into the map and drag on during the verse parts, which is understandable but personally it could do without those sliders. still, i'm nitpicking, this map overall is really, really satisfying.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #44

i already have commented on this map, and revisiting the map it's still really creative and fun but i can't help but feel at some parts the map + hs kinda sabotages the song, especially when 100pa- goes full on with the thump sound in the middle. still really like it tho, but it's totally understandable why this could miss the mark entirely for some.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #45

nothing too special, it does its job. any interesting factor that it has is pretty much due to the song, not the map. kudos tho since the map plays pretty smoothly for what it is, which imo fits the song's vibe well

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #46

this map just kinda does whatever it wants to, i don't see the appeal.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #47

if somebody who hasn't played this map asks me if it's worth the time, i would ask them back if they like jazz. the map itself is pretty inoffensive, but it's not boring spending 31 minutes going through this map thanks to the variety in gameplay experience that the song choice provides. while i don't think it's anything too special mapping wise, being able to map something so consistent for such a long duration is still an achievement in and of itself so +0.5, 3.0 feels a tad too low for this map.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #48

fanzhen flexing his ability of patterning as early as 2013, the map doesn't feel much arbitrary at all but i think fanzhen himself grew as a mapper later on and this map looking back feels like a stepping stone for him rather than his defining work. still a good map.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #49

this map just hits pretty hard imo. the way jounzan goes ham with the all-circle sections is really cool to me, and the entire map feels pretty well connected to the music.

omdb top 50 reviewing journey - #50

it's not bad, but i can't help but feel that the mapper kinda did what he felt like doing for a good amount of the duration. there are some patterns that hit pretty well but then they are followed by some kinda filler pattern that makes me think "well, that was a pattern" and nothing else. i thought 2.5 would be a fair score for it in the midst of playing but then the last kiai was pretty nice so +0.5
